The pic of the fuse box you posted is the one under the dash. The one under the hood has the wires coming directly out of the bottom- no plugs. I wonder if that tool is just for connectors, or if it would work on the back of the fuse box. It will have a diagram of the fuse box(es) along with a list of which fuses are for what systems. Find the fuse that controls the trailer lights, see if it's blown, and if it is, replace it.
